Dental X-rays

What are Dental X-rays?

A dental x-ray is a special radiographic image that gives us an in-depth view of your smile. Unfortunately, there are many dental conditions that can only be seen on an x-ray. X-rays allow us to spot areas of decay, infections, abscesses, and impacted teeth. We often recommend having x-rays taken at checkup visits, prior to oral surgery, and when you’re experiencing an emergency.

Why would Dental X-rays be needed?

The reason dental x-rays might be needed is because we need to see underneath the surface of your teeth and gums. This might be because we’re looking for hidden areas of decay, or it could be that we’re trying to find the root cause of the pain or discomfort that you’re experiencing. For our surgical patients, we’ll recommend having x-rays taken before any type of oral surgery is performed. X-rays are safe and effective, and they can be an integral part of your dental care.

They are simply the best. The professionalism is outstanding. The respect and kindness they show is beyond compare. And I haven’t even mentioned their skill set. Best dentist I’ve ever been to.

Who is a candidate for Dental X-rays?

Because we use the latest x-ray technology available, it is a good idea for each member of your family to have x-rays taken regularly. The amount of radiation used is so minute that there are rarely any problems that come from having the images taken. You can feel confident in knowing that the benefits of having x-rays taken far outweigh any risks that could be involved. You can expect x-rays to be taken at most dental appointments.

What happens during the Dental X-ray process?

We will begin the x-ray process by draping a lead apron over your body. Our dental professional then places a small device inside of the mouth. The x-ray machine is aimed at this device and the image is taken. The process is repeated until all of the x-rays that are needed have been taken. We then carefully review the x-rays to help in providing you with optimal dental care. Each member of your family can benefit from having dental x-rays done.
